What we've been up to in the last week - 12 February

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Content, HMRC Manuals, User research

Here are a few of the things we’ve been doing in the last seven days:

Product

We've been analysing specialist user needs around the Autumn Statement (published last December) and using those lessons to work on improvements for the Budget. We've been working with HMRC & HMT to look at the results of user research conducted with tax professionals to plan improvements.

We've also been looking more closely at the user needs and user stories of HMRC staff who use the HMRC manuals.

User research

We attended a workshop with the Employment Consultation Forum at HMRC and got some really good feedback on the design principles and the specialist browse mock-up pages. We also explored the implications of the PAYE work with a group of highly engaged specialist users, gaining some valuable insights.

Content

The content team has continued to work on PAYE, including paying and deductions. We've also been looking at tax credits calculators on the HMRC website, and researching and drafting content around tax reliefs for employee expenses.

We also held a useful workshop with HMRC where we started to look at some of the user needs around employer share schemes.
