Here are some of the things we've been doing in the last seven days:
Content
We've been working on the first batch of PAYE content, which is now ready to be fact checked by our HMRC colleagues. They'll be reviewing this alongside their work on the PAYE content for specialist users in the coming weeks, so we can make sure everything's joined up and ready for publication in April.
We've also been continuing to look into how we can improve the existing content for specific audience groups, including the newly self employed and pensioners. This will help inexperienced users who may never have needed to deal directly with HMRC before to more easily find points of entry into the information and services they need.
User research
Jaimes has been working on the redesign of the contacts application and planning some user testing sessions to further refine it. He's also been planning and recruiting for user research on charities with the Charity Commission and ALB and Agency transition team.
Product
Stephen continued work on analysing the product gaps to meet the needs of specialist tax users, and prioritising the work to deliver new features, in particular, meetings and analysis of problems with the publishing of the autumn statement and planning improvements to the publishing for the Budget in March.
Data analysis and web analytics
Oliver has been analysing raw CSV analytics data from HMRC on the current website usage, with a blog post on his findings in the works.
We've recently been joined by Lana Gibson, who will be leading on analytics for the HMRC transition project. Lana's been exploring the use of the data highlighterto make important GOV.UKinfo more prominent in Google search results. She's also been compiling data on top HMRC pages, and top searches for 'HMRC' in Google. Lana will be blogging more about her work soon.
Development
Matt has been completing work on a content planning tool for HMRC content. He's also been preparing for the next round of development on the contacts application, incorporating a new design based on feedback from the recent round of user testing.
Training and communications
Michael's been continuing his travels around the country to help train HMRC staff on the new systems they will be using and has been looking at how he can refine the format and content of these sessions.
